Maryland Hospital Association chooses CEO The Maryland Hospital Association named Carmela Coyle, currently senior vice president for policy for the American Hospital Association, as president and CEO. Cole takes the reins of the $12 million revenue trade group officially in July 2008, and succeeds Calvin M. Pierson, who has led MHA for 17 years. Pierson announced his retirement in October 2007. Cole has worked at AHA for 20 years. Previously, she served as a budget analyst in the Congressional Budget Office’s human resource cost estimate unit.
